"Religion that God our
Father accepts as
pure and faultless is
this: to look after
orphans and widows
in their distress and
to keep oneself from
being polluted by the world"
- James 1:27

World Orphan Crisis- Confronting It Together

AIDS, war, landmines, poverty, and famine have created a worldwide tragedy.
Total Orphans- 108 million children have lost a mother, or a father, or live parentless in our world today.
Double Orphans- Over 10 million orphans under the age of 15 are now struggling for survival with both parents dead.
AIDS Orphans- More than 14 million children are AIDS orphans, the fastest growing orphan population.  Studies and news reports indicate that by 2010 this number will double and there will be more than 25 million AIDS Orphans.

Who is taking care of these orphans?  In Africa, as in many third world communities, the responsibility falls to extended family members and grandparents. This creates a difficult situation as many of these people can barely provide for themselves. Life for these parentless children is desperate.

Entire families of children attempt to care for each other with no adult figures. Older siblings often drop out of school to help provide for younger siblings. They work in menial jobs for hardly any money at all and some simply cannot find work and end up begging for food.  They are often the victims of sexual predators and violent assaults because there are no adults to care and fend for them. These children miss out on their childhoods and are forced into adulthood because of this crisis.

Many of these children are infected with HIV/AIDS; however, most of them are not. AIDS orphans are not only orphans who are infected but also orphans who are affected by AIDS.  Although many do not have HIV/AIDS poverty still crushes them with malnutrition or hunger. This seemingly unbreakable cycle must stop! Is there a solution?

God tells us He has a special concern for orphans. He is the "Father to the fatherless," (Psalm 68:5) and He expects His Church to "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves." (Prov 31:8) It was written in James 1:27, "pure and undefiled religion is to care for orphans and widows in their distress."

So WE are the Biblical solution?  Yes, we believe God is calling His Church throughout the world to show His love by taking action and caring for the orphan and the widow, for this is religion that is pure and faultless. (James 1:27) Warm Blankets Orphan Care International has already rescued thousands of orphans and given them good care in dozens of church-based orphan homes

You and your group can rescue more orphans with us.  Through practical application of lessons learned with Operation Orphan Rescue, you and your group will rescue and care for orphans currently living without hope.
